We are on the road...finally

So Friday July 4th we got up, packed up the bikes and hit the road.  We spent the night at Scott's brother, Jeff and his wife Denie.  I slept like a baby, still catching up on the time change.
Here is Scott as we head down I5.

I saw this along the way and thought of Cathy, she loves Baskin Robbins!
So we road hard down the PCH 101 and once traffic let up it was awesome. Then we decided we needed to find somewhere to tent camp.  We tried to reserve spots online but because it was the 4th of July, no one was answering the phone nor it appeared we could find somewhere.  We kept riding and set our bearing for Cape Look Out state park.  About 2 hours later we finally got there and the sign at the camp grounds said "full". We were dejected but asked a ranger if there were spots available and he said no but gave us a list of other state and private camp grounds and phone numbers. We called many and could not find anything so we decided to ride to Portland to find a hotel.  I asked the ranger how to get to Portland, and he said since we had tried to find other sites, he gave us site D50, and we were happy campers, just like the saying goes!  We bought 2 bundles of firewood and I threw it on Red  Velvet and scadadled to D50!

The the camp set up, I headed out to the beach which was just a short walk.  The beach was awesome and I just kicked back and enjoyed it and then the sun came out for the last photo below.

Day one was great!
